About The Event

Join us for a journey back in time, where the origins of yoga, its ancient traditions, philosophy and spirituality are explored. This journey through history will include touching on the Holy Vedas, the Upanishads, Patanjali, Tantra and Hatha Yoga perspectives as well as looking at the many forms yoga takes today. We'll look at some of the famous lineages of yoga that have inspired many great teachers and yogis globally. Through understanding the depth of the vast history and traditions of yoga we can deepen our own yoga practice and intention to recognise and experience yoga’s true potential- which is to raise consciousness and uplift humanity!

This discourse shall be delivered by Brendon Sakey

Brendon has had a traditional and integrated yoga training through the Bihar School of Yoga. Ancient in its perspective yet modern in its application. Through both his yoga practice and many journeys to India, Brendon has developed a deep respect and reverence for yoga and holds spirituality at the heart of this ancient practice.

Brendon has taught yoga in community classes, on retreats, workshops and on Yoga Teacher Training courses. He is a registered social worker and is passionate about sharing yoga where it is most needed in society - health services, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, palliative care and prison!
