Level 3

Yoga Teacher Training Course

The Level 3 Teacher Training Course is held at Ashram Yoga’s Ohui Retreat in New Zealand over the duration of 10 days. In addition to advancing your skills and competencies as a yoga teacher, you will also experience the benefits of living within an ashram lifestyle. 

On Level 3, we amplify to 'next level learning'. This is our most progressive training, unparalleled by any other training offered within New Zealand or abroad. We explore advanced aspects of yoga practice, techniques and teaching.

At the end of the course, you will be eligible to enrol for the Yoga Alliance's RYT-500 certification. This course will prepare you as a teacher for a wide range of teaching roles including Yoga Therapy – the prescription of specific practices for lifestyle betterment or remedial treatment - a particularly rewarding aspect of yoga teaching.

Course Content


Level 3 offers practices that most people never experience and perspectives that are not well-known. These tools and techniques are approached through your own experience and understanding of them and show how you can share them with others in a relevant and systematic way. 

Advanced yoga practices include:

  • Advanced yoga asanas

  • Extended Dhara Yogasana & Namaksaras (flowing postures)

  •  Advanced pranayama techniques

  •  Mudra techniques (energetic gestures).


Advanced teaching practices:

  • How to assess your students physically

  • Teaching for special needs

  • Postures for therapeutic application

  • The use and practice of mudra in yoga teaching

  • Nada Yoga (yoga of sound) in a teaching situation.


Advanced meditation techniques:

  • Using chakras and their kshetrams (trigger points for chakras)

  • The deeper yoga symbols of the psyche and how to use these in Yoga Nidra

  • In-depth meditation series

  • Dharana Akasha – study of the main inner spaces of the subtle body.

Advanced yoga philosophy:

  • Samkhya Philosophy

  • Mantra and Sanskrit chants.
