Level 2 Part-Time

Yoga Teacher Training Course

Our Level 2 Part-Time Teacher Training Course is taught as a series of weekend workshops - one per month - over a five-month period. Each month builds upon the preceding months giving you an experiential understanding of the yoga practices involved. 

 

We focus on the deeper energetic aspects of yoga, including the anatomy of the subtle body (chakraskoshas and nadis) as related to more complex postures, breathing techniques and teaching methods. We also begin the in-depth study and understanding of the Yoga Nidra (guided relaxation) technique.

At the end of the course, you will have earned hours contributing towards the Yoga Alliance's RYT-500 certification and will have the skills and knowledge to teach more challenging yoga classes and workshops.

Course Content

Overall, Level 2 has a more comprehensive focus on postures, an introspective approach to yoga philosophy and an explorative understanding of pranayama and meditation techniques.


We introduce and delve deeply into experiencing and teaching about the subtle body. This includes the study of prana (life force), chakra’s (energy centres), kosha’s (subtle bodies) and Kundalini (spiritual force). These aspects of yoga are tremendously enriching, fascinating and practical on a personal level, as well growing and developing your teaching.

Philosophically we introduce the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali – an ancient text that addresses the essential principles of yoga and the development of the mental and spiritual faculties existent within us all. This text is of fundamental importance in yoga study, often inspiring new perspective and offering new insight and relationship with one’s practice. This text comprehensively explores the mind, how it works and how to work with it.

We will also explore the application of Ayurveda with yoga as well as the principles and application of tantra and yoga (including prana, gunas, tattwas, nadis, chakras and koshas).
 
Level 2 is fully inclusive of our Yoga Nidra Level 1 training module enabling you to competently and confidently share this transformative yogic technique.

All course material is presented in workbooks for you to keep and make notes in. Each weekend we teach a new module/workbook. Extra text books are beneficial but not compulsory and are available for purchase through Ashram Yoga.

Your daily practice and assignment ensures an in-depth understanding so you can integrate the material on all levels. You also have an opportunity to teach others over the month and ask questions when you return. 

There are written assignments each month but no exams as we focus more on the actual experience of learning and teaching.
