Relax and Restore Workshop
Join Jo Eng for our regular Relax and Restore workshop - a slow, meditative and deeply relaxing yin yoga and Yoga Nidra practice, which encourages a letting go of ‘busyness’ and ‘doing’ in order to arrive at a state of simply ‘being’.
In our busy, fast-paced, demanding and stressful lives, we become so familiar with the tightness and tensions that we hold in our bodies that rarely do we consciously realise the deep need for relaxing and releasing these deeply held tensions. It’s only by relaxing deeply and consciously, that we can allow these tensions to release, allow our bodies to soften and energy to flow.
Yin yoga gives us the space to slow down and stay with our experiences rather than always rushing and striving to achieve. Yin yoga is a practice in which floor-based postures are held for several minutes. Within these long holds there is an encouragement of softness and an emphasis on relaxing muscular tissue. Through this stillness, we can become aware of the various sensations within the body and the fluctuations of mind, emotions and breath. This brings a sense of harmony and peace: so, there is a greater ease, a deeper sense of balance, feelings of calmness and acceptance. The yin practice invites us to explore our inner landscape with qualities of self-reflection, acceptance and equanimity. We learn to pay attention to what is, as it is with an attitude of kindness.
This yin practice will prepare the body for a restorative Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) – a guided mediation that will bring you to a state somewhere between consciousness and sleep, allowing for a profoundly deep state of rest.
This workshop is suitable to people of all abilities and no prior experience is necessary.
